I would like to share with you my third original song I wrote for the Lina’s Music House end of year concert on December 7th, 2014. I wrote this song to encourage my friends, family, students and listeners to follow their dreams and create the life they want. I performed this song a few times to family and students in preparation for the concert. I got the same feedback from each listener – “the lyrics are very powerful and meaningful.” I hope the lyrics will be as powerful and meaningful to you as it is for me.

Better Me – Piano and lyrics by Lina Chan Verse 1
I never thought I’d see the day,
When everything will be ok.
I’m gonna leave my past behind,
and look for a better life.
Have you ever loved someone so much,
that you couldn’t just get enough.
Have you ever been hurt so bad,
that you wanted to just give up.
Through music we can change the world,
things go wrong and our life goes on .
Live life just like your dreams,
and let yourself be free.
CHORUS
I was born to love and I’ll be strong ,
live the life that I really want
I never wanted to compete,
I just want to be a better me.
So I’m gonna leave it all behind,
start a new stage of my life
Some memories never fade,
I know I will not be afraid.
Verse 2
Life’s too short to wake up with regrets,
Love the people who make you feel blessed.
Forget the ones who have done you wrong,
Believe that life is just like a song.
Try new things when you get the chance,
Life is short and love is rare.
Some day you will meet the one,
You will feel forever young.
I’m not perfect, I make mistakes,
Do my best in every way,
I don’t know where life will lead,
So I’m going to be just me.
Bridge (instrumental)
CHORUS (2x)
